We started the month at our annual bowling party in Tooele with Rob's extended family. My grandkids all love bowling, but Lucas adores it. He even watching bowling on TV. We always have a great time seeing cousins and new babies.
We had our good friends, the Phunorskis over for dinner. We missed the Harris', but had a fantastic time with the Berrys and Cooks. We always have such a good time with them. It is so nice to have "old" friends like them. At the end of the evening we shared our favorite family game with them--Beanboozled of course. I think Jelly Belly should start giving us a commission on those we get hooked on this game.
Christmas Eve we spent the evening with most of our kids and my 98 year old mom. Sara, Matt and Lucas didn't come over until Christmas Day. The program, after dinner and before presents, was the highlight of the night. We heard great renditions of "You Better Watch Out" from both the Bodine boys and Avery. Steve's family had a coloring activity for the little ones. Jill lead her annual activity of having us play a song with the chimes. Erin did "This is the Stable" and had Kamrie sing a song too.
Christmas day started out slow at our house. Whatever happened to getting up before dawn to see if Santa really made it to our house? Rob went around the house moping until the kids came about 12:30. We exchanged gifts with Sara's and Erin's families, after a quick lunch. Later that afternoon we met all the kids at the theater for this year's wonderful Christmas movie "The Princess and the Frog." We finished off the celebrating at my sister Carol's house for dinner. My mom was there again as well a Paul and his family who surprised everyone by arriving two days earlier than they had said.
I usually hate New Year's Eve, but this year I quite enjoyed it. Rob and I went to a movie. As we were getting in our car we had a call from Jill. She and Preston were going to have friends over for a party, but Wells got sick and they had to cancel. They invited us over to play "Ticket to Ride." We enjoyed the quiet evening. We were so engrossed in the game that we missed the New Year arriving at midnight.
I got to begin 2010 sick in bed. Evidently Wells and I have been in the same places lately and it just took me a day longer to get sick. I felt so crumby I just laid in bed all day watching really bad, but censored, Jennifer Aniston movies. It led me to wonder, are there any good Jennifer Aniston movies?
Today I feel great and am so thankful for my good health. I think I take it for granted way too much. I got Christmas all taken down and put away. That signaled the official end of the holiday season at our house. Now we get back to our boring(?) everyday living of life.
